The patient was diagnosed with angina pectoris and
begun on a cardiac work up to document extend of the
coronary involvement. His facial lesions in the
superior palpebral folds are diagnostic of
xantelasmata.
The patient’s total cholesterol was 224 mg/dl, the
LDL cholesterol was 165 mg/dl. The HDL cholesterol
was 46 mg/dl. The patient’s fasting blood glucose
was 103 mg/dl. Obviously, the patient has criteria
at this time to suspect metabolic syndrome.
