DIAGNOSIS AND MANAGEMENT

On examination, she was found to have no abnormalities of the swallowing mechanism, the oropharynx, the temporo-mandibular joint or the jaw itself.
The lesion demonstrated here seemed to have caused the entire set of symptoms resulting in referred pain to the areas in question. This is an aphthous ulcer. There is current interest in the possible association of these shallow ulcerations with H. pylori.
