Seborrheic dermatitis is a common,
inflammatory skin condition that causes flaky, white
to yellowish scales in the scalp, eyebrows,
eyelids, creases of the nose, lips, behind the ears,
in the external ear, and along skin folds on the
middle of the body. The etiology is thought to be
related to one or more of these factors;
-
Psychological factors
-
Bacterial infection
-
Fungal infection
It has been observed that seborrheic dermatitis is
not uncommon in patients with HIV/AIDS. Furthermore,
it has been noted that its intensity decreased
appreciably with micronutrient replacement and
intravenous fat emulsions.
