DISCUSSION:

The patient can be assumed to be on warfarin because of the history of atrial fibrillation. Vitamin K may be given orally or intramuscularly safely. However, the effect will take several hours depending on the hepatic status and the level of inhibition of the vitamin K dependent synthetic enzymes.
