DISCUSSION:

Enthesitis typically manifests as ankle pain, heel pain, Achilles' apophysitis, and back or hip stiffness. Enthesitis may be present alone or with arthritis, as in seronegative arthritis enthesopathy, a syndrome seen in approximately 20 percent of children with rheumatic disease.28 Enthesitic pain typically is worse at the end of the day after vigorous activities, but usually it does not limit activities. Enthesitis is a term to denote “growing pains.”
