CUBAN MANGER /
PESEBRE CUBANO
1994
This artifact was
used in detention camps for Cuban migrant children of
various ages as a bed and play pen. It is a testimony of
the difficult physical and psychological living
conditions under which the Cuban migrants lived.
All children
detained are considered innocent victims of the politics
between the tyrant in Havana and the American government
in Washington. As the latter begins to recognize the
humanitarian needs of the Cuban migrants, specifically
the children rafters, may this artifact be a testimonial
to the fortitude of the Cuban people, their unity in
time of crisis, and the high price paid by them in their
quest for liberty, the full dignity of man, justice and
self determination.
