FIFTH
GAME DELAYED, RAINED upon AND FINALLY INCONCLUSIVELY SUSPENDED UNTIL
NEXT SATURDAY.
FATE TO BE DETERMINED ON SAT 5:00 PM
in FIELD NUMBER TWO (2) AT TROPICAL PARK.
Game 6th will also be on next
The fifth
game in the Medical Circle Softball league started late on Saturday
October 27th. The Vectors were short of players and there
was a sort of unarmed pose directed by Dr Luis Castro that went
through the environs of the park asking everywhere including in the
children’s parties and their mascots I they would sign up and play
for the Vectors. Both teams in the league this fall have done that
several times. This time the efforts paid off. Very soon, about 30
minutes or so after 5 PM several young players appeared in the rags
and were quickly fitted with team shirts and caps. Five players went
to the Vectors and 2 to the Roosters. In all, each team had ten
players to begin with.
Nobody
knows how this happens but is has been a consistently reliable fact.
The five players that went to play for the Vectors were much better
at bat than the two that went to the Roosters. So in the first two
innings the Vectors scored 10 runs to nothing for the Roosters
despite the fact that the Vectors had two of their sluggers out:
Crhis Hernandez and Oscar Farach.
In the
fourth inning the rain came down, obviously from a cloud. But the
cloud was moving in from the East and since we were stationary in
the park we eventually went back to playing in 20 minutes. The most
dedicated and respected umpire,. Walfredo
López immediately improvised a towel to keep the ball free from mud
and dry. After all, the score seemed muddy for the Roosters!
Aristeo
pitched all the way and was winning when the game was held after the
bottom of the 6th inning. Several of the youngsters that
were recruited by Dr Castro were in desperate need to leave the park
or ELSE. Who knows, it may have been homework. Or perhaps the weekly
allowance that was in play. The kids did not want to leave the
Vectors empty but they really could not stay either. So after more
discussion that anyone would want to listen again and a real honest
demonstration of the competitive spirit that has been brewing in the
League, the game was placed on hold and it will be continued on
Saturday November 3rd at 5:00 PM. The field will not be
number 4, BUT NUMBER TWO( 2).
The series
of this most unique Softball League is 3 won for the VECTORS and 1
won for the ROOSTERS. The fifth game was placed on hold in the
beginning of the SEVENTH inning with the score 13 for the Vectors
and 11 for the Roosters. Aristeo was on the mount for the Vectors
and the Roosters had used three pitchers so far, Choly Naranjo, Ana
Lucia and a new recruit that looks promising, Rafael Escalona.
CONCLUSION
OF GAME 5 and GAME 6 NEXT SATURDAY! FIELD NUMBER
2 AT TROPICAL PARK.
